OK! I report the phone is still not working. I go down to the lobby again and am told that housekeeping is only on the 4th and 7th days of your stay. I try to call down and - the phone still doesn't work. I go out for the day, come back around 5pm and - no housekeeping. Next morning I go down to the cafe, which is really tiny, and order an excellent coffee and a breakfast pastry - as that is all they have (coffee, water, milk, juice, baked goods and fruit). I go back to my room and have a great night sleep. I also report that my phone doesn't work. No problem, I go to the lobby and ask for the Wifi password. It either rings immediately or goes to a fast busy. No problem, I'll call down and - the phone doesn't work (I try 3-4 times). I unpack and look for the hotel guide book to get the Wifi password and - there isn't one. No effort made to move me to a quieter room. They say that the bar / party noise will last until midnight and was that OK? FYI, the hotel is about 11-12 storeys with an open centre and all room doors facing into the centre so noise travels up all floors. I ask them to check my profile and they acknowledge my quiet room preference and then do nothing. I get my room keys and I ask if I have a 'quiet' room. Pleasant staff who let me know that I got an upgraded room - nice! I'm a Marriott Elite so I have a detailed profile with them. So, I get to the front desk and start the check in process. Unlike every signature hotel in Europe, there is no one to help with bags, etc. There is no indication (for example) that the parking garage is for the hotel and not for a nearby condo. Parking, while free, is also not signed and is not well light. The hotel looks like a lot of the condo buildings in the area so without visible signage, the only way I knew it was a hotel was the luggage carts in the door. That sign in a large (4-5') M cut into a large steel plate painted flat black, so it was invisible to me in the dark. The hotel is very poorly lit and has only one sign. Arrival and Check In I arrived about 11pm. IMHO, this one is no match for their European counterparts. I've stayed in Signature hotels before in Europe and they were all outstanding experiences - right across the board. Why? I booked this property because it is a Marriott Signature property. Recently stayed 7 days at the Merriweather Lakehouse hotel and was.
